Regular Season Round 9: Matanzas - Santiago 100-73

The game between fifth ranked Guerreros (5-4) and 6th ranked Santiago (3-6) in ended with biggest points difference. Guerreros outscored guests from Santiago 100-73. The game without a history. Guerreros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Santiago's 52. They outrebounded Santiago 29-10 including a 19-8 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Lazro Sanchez who scored 24 points. Luis Curtiz chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Four Guerreros players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) who recorded 34 points (!!!) and swingman Reider Giron (188-91) added 14 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guerreros moved-up to third place, which they share with Capitalinos and Camaguey. Santiago lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Guerreros' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Pinar in Rio and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santiago will play at home against Tigres (#3) and hope to win that game.
