Regular Season Round 10: Santiago - Camaguey 80-70

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tigres (0-9) against sixth ranked Santiago (3-6) on Tuesday night. Visiting Tigres were defeated by Santiago in Santiago 80-70. The game was mostly controlled by Santiago. Tigres was better in fourth quarter 31-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santiago forced 27 Tigres turnovers. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) notched 26 points to lead the effort and guard Roigelis Ochoa (190-93) supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Santiago players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 steals by point guard Vladimir Francis (185-83) did not help to save the game for Tigres. Forward Yoanis Baldo (191-89) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santiago moved-up to fifth place. Tigres at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Santiago will play against Ciego (#6) in Avila in the next round. Tigres will play at home against the league's second-placed Pinar and hope to get finally their first victory.
