Regular Season Round 22: Pinheiros - Brasilia 86-78

NBB round 22 caused change at the leadership position. Sixth defeat of league's leader Brasilia (15-6) against eighth ranked Pinheiros (12-9) 86-78 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Brasilia. Pinheiros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Brasilia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and international Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Brasilia. Four Brasilia players scored in double figures. Pinheiros moved-up to seventh place. Brasilia at the other side dropped to the second position with six games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Flamengo. Brasilia will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Pinheiros will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Minas in Belo Horizonte.
