Regular Season Round 10: Kaspiy Aktau - Barsy Atyrau 60-83

Very significant was Barsy Atyrau's (#2, 5-7) victory against one of their biggest challengers Kaspiy Aktau (1-13) 83-60. The game without a history. Barsy Atyrau led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kaspiy Aktau to just 5 points in third quarter. Barsy Atyrau dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kaspiy Aktau's 24. Barsy Atyrau forced 21 Kaspiy Aktau turnovers and outrebounded them 38-23 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Barsy Atyrau looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international swingman Pavel Ilin (196-92) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Pavel Micheev (201-83) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side point guard Azim Yagodkin (185-92) responded with 18 points and 6 assists and American guard Sean Hill (188-92, college: Chicago St.) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 5-7 record having eleven points less than leader Astana. Kaspiy Aktau at the other side stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Barsy Atyrau are looking forward to face league's leader Astana on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kaspiy Aktau will have a break next round.
