Regular Season Round 11: Camaguey - Pinar del Rio 55-63

Bottom-ranked Tigres (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 63-55 loss to second ranked Pinar (9-1) in Camaguey. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points, 8 assists and 8 steals. Jaciel Martinez (190-91) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Pinar players scored in double figures. Point guard Vladimir Francis (185-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 steals and guard Yoisel Jimenez (180-89) added 11 points in the effort for Tigres. Tigres' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Pinar. They maintain second place with 9-1 record having just three points less than leader Villa Clara. Tigres lost their third game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. Pinar will play against league's leader Villa Clara in Santa Clara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tigres will play against Guerreros (#3) and hope to get finally their first victory.
