Regular Season Round 11: Matanzas - Guantanamo 77-70

Bottom-ranked Guantanamo (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-70 loss to fourth ranked Guerreros (6-4) in on Wednesday evening. It was a great evening for the former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Yosniel Moralez helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Guerreros' coach Jemmott Allen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Guerreros. They moved-up to third place. Guantanamo lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Guerreros will meet bottom-ranked Tigres (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Guantanamo will play against Ciego in Avila and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
