Bottom-ranked Macae managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of seven consecutive losses on Thursday night. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Liga Sorocaba in Sorocabana 77-73. Macae made 30-of-36 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Liga Sorocaba outrebounded Macae 46-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) who scored 27 points. Point guard Marcio de-Mattos (188-93) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Enzo Cafferata (187-88) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Alexandre de-Souza (202-92) added 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Liga Sorocaba's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Macae (4-18) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with L.Sorocaba. Liga Sorocaba lost eleventh consecutive game. Macae will meet at home higher ranked Vasco Da G. (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liga Sorocaba will play against Pinheiros (#7) and hope to secure a win.
