Regular Season Round 7: Haryana G. - Punjab S. 77-71

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Punjab S. (2-2) against fourth ranked Haryana G. (1-3) on Thursday night. Visiting Punjab S. was defeated by Haryana G. in a tough game in Chandigarh 71-77. It looked good early as Punjab S. took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Haryana G. had a 25-16 second period charge getting the lead and Punjab S. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-77. They outrebounded Punjab S. 49-37 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Australian guard Eban Hyams (196-81, college: Georgia Perimeter) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Jaskaran contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Four Haryana G. players scored in double figures. American guard Dermaine Crockrell (185-89, college: Bemidji St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and international point guard Akilan Pari (180-89) added 6 points, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Punjab S.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Haryana G. maintains fourth place with 1-3 record. Punjab S. at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Delhi C.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
