The game in Kouvola was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (15-14) played at the court of seventh ranked Kouvot (12-16). Kouvot defeated Lapuan Korikobrat 88-77 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-77. Kouvot made 20-of-20 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Raheem Appleby (190-93, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Rakeem Buckles (203-90, college: FIU) supported him with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kouvot's coach Pieti Poikola used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Dom Morris (201-90, college: Boston U.) did not help to save the game for Lapuan Korikobrat. Guard Marius Van-Andringa (189-94) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Defending champion maintains seventh position with 12-16 record. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the fifth place with 14 games lost. Kouvot will meet higher ranked Joensuun Kataja (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against the league's second-placed Salon Vilpas and will have a slim chance for a victory.
