Regular Season Round 20: Jarvenpaa - Jyvaskyla BA 76-63

We should mention about the upset which took place in Jarvenpaa, where higher ranked Jyvaskyla BA (12-11) lost to ninth ranked Jarvenpaa (8-15) in a road game 63-76. The game was mostly controlled by Jarvenpaa. Jyvaskyla BA was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Jyvaskyla BA 46-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Cameroonian forward Arsene Towa (191-81) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 23 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Tarmo Rista (188-93) supported him with 9 points and 11 rebounds. Four Jarvenpaa players scored in double figures. Even 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Chrysostom Chukwuma (190-96) did not help to save the game for Jyvaskyla BA. Swingman Timi Puittinen (193-94) added 11 points for the guests. Jarvenpaa moved-up to seventh place in Division. Newly promoted Jyvaskyla BA dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Jarvenpaa's next round opponent will be Pyrinto II (#10) in Tampere. Jyvaskyla BA will play at home against Porvoon Tarmo (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
