Regular Season Round 8: Pune P. - Chennai S. 84-88

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Pune P. (3-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Chennai S. (2-2) 88-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Pune P.. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 32-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Chennai S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. International center Rikin Pethani (203-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Cammy contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Chennai S. players scored in double figures. American guard Pierre Newton (196-93, college: Minn.-Duluth) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Amritpal Singh (212-91) added 24 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Pune P.Pune P.'s coach R Kumar rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Pune P. at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Mumbai Ch.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
