Regular Season Round 23: Hamar - Armann 111-71

Bottom-ranked Armann (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 111-71 loss to fifth ranked Hamar (9-11) in Hamar. The game without a history. Hamar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Armann's 50. Hamar forced 26 Armann turnovers and had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Armann's players. Forward Gudjon Gudjonsson (198-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Erlendur Stefansson (190-95, college: Black Hills St.) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Hamar's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Magnus Hjalmarsson (184) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Daniel Fridriksson (175-95) added 15 points in the effort for Armann. Four Armann players scored in double figures. Hamar maintains fifth place with 9-11 record. Armann at the other side still closes the standings. Hamar will play against higher ranked Valur (#3) in Reykjavik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Armann will play at home against IA (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
