Regular Season Round 25: Forca Lleida - Castello 92-69

Rather expected game when 12th ranked Castello (11-14) was smashed on the road by ninth ranked Lleida Basquet (14-11) 92-69 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-69. Lleida Basquet dominated on the defensive end, holding Castello to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Castello 41-24 including 20 on the offensive glass. Lleida Basquet looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for Senegalese center Papa Mbaye (209-90) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Brazilian forward Leonardo Demetrio (203-94) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Lleida Basquet players scored in double figures. Forward Juan Cabot (200-88) answered with 15 points and power forward Federico Ucles (204-93) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Castello. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lleida Basquet moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ourense. Loser Castello keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Lleida Basquet will face league's second-placed Gipuzkoa in San Sebastian in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Castello will play at home against Leche Rio Breogan (#3) and hope to win that game.
