Regular Season Round 12: Pinar del Rio - Villa Clara 74-75

The most exciting game of round 12 in the LSB took place in Rio. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Pinar (10-2) to top-ranked Villa Clara (12-0) 75-74 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Pinar. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Pinar won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villa Clara forced 21 Pinar turnovers. It was a good game for Osvaldo Perez who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 steals for the winners. The former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) replied with 32 points, 8 assists and 7 steals and the former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) added 14 points and 7 steals in the effort for Pinar. Villa Clara have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-0 record. Pinar at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. Villa Clara are looking forward to face Tigres (#7) in Camaguey in the next round where they are favorite. Pinar will play on the road against Ciego (#5) in Avila and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
