Regular Season Round 19: Roche - Avenir 69-58

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Avenir (16-3) in La Roche on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Roche (16-3) 69-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Avenir. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Roche. Avenir managed to win second period 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Avenir 39-21 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for DR Congolese center Bernadette Ngoyisa (195-82) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Johana Tayeau (173-89) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Roche players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Swanne Gauthier (171-86) responded with 14 points and point guard Magali Mendy (178-90, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Roche used an opportunity after Avenir lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Avenir. Roche is looking forward to face SIG (#9) in llkirch-Graff. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Avenir will play against Roannais (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
