Regular Season Round 41: Shiga L-Stars - Toyota Alvark 83-84

Sixth-ranked Shiga L-Stars (9-31) made lots of trouble for second ranked Toyota Alvark (30-8) on Saturday. The visitors from Tokyo managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shiga L-Stars won fourth quarter 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: Arizona St.) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach Takuma Ito used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Toyota Alvark used an opportunity after Tochigi Brex lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the sixth place with 31 games lost. They share the position with Toyama Grouses. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shiga L-Stars will play again against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) and hope to secure a win.
