Regular Season Round 21: Quintanar - Casvi 64-78

Date: February 25, 2017
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Casvi (16-5) beat on the road 9th ranked Quintanar (10-10) 78-64 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-64. Strangely Quintanar outrebounded Casvi 27-12 including a 24-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Walter Cabral (200-95, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with 28 points. Jose-Miguel Perez (202-96) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Casvi's coach Jose Antonio Sanchez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Emmanuel Okoroba (203-92, college: Hampton) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Martin Smith (196, college: Lipscomb) added 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Quintanar. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Casvi. They maintain second place in Group B with 16-5 record having just five point less than leader Chantada, which they share with Real Madrid II. Loser Quintanar dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Casvi will face Torrelodones (#15) in Madrid in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Quintanar will play at home against Gran Canaria B (#7) and hope to win that game.
