Regular Season Round 24: HyPo - FoA 101-70

Rather predictable result when first ranked HyPo (20-3) rolled over 4th ranked Forssan Alku (12-11) in Hyvinkaa 101-70 on Saturday. The game without a history. HyPo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Forssan Alku's 28. They outrebounded Forssan Alku 58-20 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. HyPo looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Forssan Alku's players. It was a good game for the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) who led her team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 blocks. The former international power forward Laura Saarinen (186-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four HyPo players scored in double figures. American guard Kiana Johnson (168-93, college: Virginia Union) replied with 18 points and 5 assists and her fellow American import guard Tyonna Snow (178-93, college: Missouri St.) added 21 points and 5 steals in the effort for Forssan Alku. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. HyPo maintains first position with 20-3 record. Forssan Alku at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. HyPo will face Espoo Team (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Forssan Alku will play against Aanekosken and hope to win that game.
