Regular Season Round 21: Castellbisbal - Calvia 94-85

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Calvia (13-5) on the court of eighth ranked Castellbisbal on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Castellbisbal 94-85. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Calvia. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Castellbisbal made 32-of-35 free shots (91.4 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Calvia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for forward Eric Manes (194-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Marc Manes (196-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Five Castellbisbal players scored in double figures. Castellbisbal's coach Raul Martinez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Jose-Maria Morales (205-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and forward Ivan Matemalas (194-80) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Calvia. Castellbisbal (9-9) moved-up to sixth place in Group C-A, which they share with Cornella and Arenys. Newly promoted Calvia still keeps top position with five games lost. They share it with Martorell. Castellbisbal is looking forward to face Barna (#14) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Calvia will play at home against Salt (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
