Eredivisie top team - Groningen (20-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Rotterdam (8-13) 82-56. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Rotterdam managed to win fourth quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rotterdam to just 3 points in first quarter. Groningen dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Rotterdam's 26. Groningen forced 19 Rotterdam turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. Swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) nailed 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and forward Andrew Smith (206-92, college: Liberty) accounted for 9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward Greg Mays (203-93, college: Green Bay, agency: Court Side) came up with 17 points and guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St.) added 5 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Rotterdam in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Groningen have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-1 record. Rotterdam lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. Groningen will meet Leiden (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Rotterdam will play against Den Bosch and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
