There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Oviedo (8-12) beat at home 9th ranked Segle XXI (8-12) 79-70 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-70. Oviedo had a 37-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Damika Martinez (170-92, college: Iona) chipped in 31 points and 5 assists. Point guard Aina Ayuso (181-99) produced 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Sofia Galeron (186-99) added 4 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Oviedo moved-up to ninth place in Group A, which they share with Ensino and Segle XXI. Segle XXI lost fourth consecutive game. Oviedo will face Azkoitia (#12) in Azpeitia in the next round.
