Regular Season Round 20: Costa Masnaga - Empoli 71-74

Sixth-ranked Costa Masnaga (12-8) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Empoli (17-3) on Saturday. The visitors from Empoli managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Costa Masnaga was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 9 rebounds. Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Valentina Baldelli (170-89) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Costa Masnaga. Empoli maintains second position in A2 with 17-3 record behind leader Sesto SG. Costa Masnaga at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Empoli are looking forward to face San Salvatore (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Costa Masnaga will play against Team Crema and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
