Regular Season Round 15: Kanazawa Sam. - Tokyo Big Blue 88-46

B League D3 top team - Kanazawa Sam. (24-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Tokyo Big Blue (2-24) in Ishikawa 88-46. Kanazawa Sam. dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 24. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 57-28 including a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kanazawa Sam. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Tokyo Big Blue was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. Swingman Akihiro Soui (184-90) answered with 11 points and Kengo Funabashi (-93) added 9 points in the effort for Tokyo Big Blue. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the twenty first consecutive win for Kanazawa Sam.. They maintain first place with 24-2 record. Tokyo Big Blue lost their fifth game in a row. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Kanazawa Sam. will face league's second-placed Fukuoka Rizing at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Big Blue will play against Toyoda Gosei (#8) in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
