Regular Season Round 41: SeaHorses - Akita NH 85-65

No shocking result in a game in Kariya where first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (29-9) smashed 5th ranked Akita Happinets (11-29) 85-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Akita Happinets was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 41-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 27 points. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Forward Ryosuke Shirahama (190-91) produced 14 points and American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 29-9 record. Loser Akita Happinets dropped to the sixth position with 29 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face again Akita Happinets (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
