Regular Season Round 21: Oostende - Brussels 88-76

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Oostende. First ranked Oostende faced 4th placed Basic-Fit Brussels. Host Oostende (17-4) defeated guests from Brussels (11-10) 88-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Basic-Fit Brussels. Oostende shot 60.3 percent from the field. They outrebounded Basic-Fit Brussels 34-22 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Oostende players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was a good game for international forward Pierre-Antoine Gillet (201-91) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). American guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) contributed with 11 points and 8 assists for the winners. American forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Domien Loubry (186-85) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Basic-Fit Brussels. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Oostende. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-4 record. Basic-Fit Brussels at the other side dropped to the third position with ten games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Oostende will play against Limburg United (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Basic-Fit Brussels will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut and hope to get back on the winning track.
