Regular Season Round 41: San-en - Nagoya DD 93-88

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Hamamatsu. Second ranked Sanen Neophoenix faced second-ranked Diamond Dolphins. Host Sanen Neophoenix (24-16) defeated guests from Nagoya (21-19) 93-88. Diamond Dolphins were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 60-52 second half run of Sanen Neophoenix. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Dolphins' 42. American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side and Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) accounted for 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Sanen Neophoenix's coach Hiroki Fujita allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) came up with 25 points and 9 rebounds and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for Diamond Dolphins in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sanen Neophoenix maintains second place with 24-16 record having eight points less than leader Tochigi Brex which they share with defeated Diamond Dolphins. Diamond Dolphins lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second position with 19 games lost. Sanen Neophoenix's next round opponent will be again league's second-placed Diamond Dolphins in Nagoya and it will be for sure the game of the week.
