Regular Season Round 32: Kauhajoki - Helsinki Seagulls 88-89

The most exciting game of round 32 in the Korisliiga took place in Kauhajoki. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (19-11) to first ranked Helsinki Seagulls (21-7) 89-88 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Kauhajoen Karhu. Strangely Kauhajoen Karhu outrebounded Helsinki Seagulls 39-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. American swingman Raymond Cowels-III (193-90, college: Santa Clara) saved the victory by scoring 21 points. The former international point guard Antto Nikkarinen (185-91, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. American swingman Austin Hollins (195-91, college: Minnesota) replied with 23 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Tate Unruh (193-90, college: N.Colorado, agency: Inception Sports) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Kauhajoen Karhu. Five Helsinki Seagulls and four Kauhajoen Karhu players scored in double figures. Helsinki Seagulls maintains first position with 21-7 record. Kauhajoen Karhu at the other side keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Helsinki Seagulls are looking forward to face BC Nokia (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against KTP-Basket in Kotka and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
