Regular Season Round 19: Bourges - Villeneuve 61-64

The most exciting game of round 19 in the LFB took place in Bourges. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Bourges (11-8) to fourth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (13-6) 64-61 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bourges. Bourges was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 14-10 charge of Villeneuve D'Ascq, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Bourges' 32. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 19 Bourges turnovers. It was a great evening for international forward Valerianne Ayayi (184-94) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. International center Aby Gaye (195-95) helped adding 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Canadian center Kayla Alexander (193-91, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and international point guard Marine Johannes (174-95) scored 16 points. Villeneuve D'Ascq have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Landes. Bourges at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Mondeville. Villeneuve D'Ascq is looking forward to face Basket Landes (#4) in Mont de Marsan in the next round. Bourges will play on the road against Nantes Reze and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
