Regular Season Round 20: Ferrol - Avenida 83-88

LFB top team - Perfumerias Avenida (19-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Universitario de Ferrol (10-10) 88-83. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Universitario de Ferrol won third quarter 12-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a quality performance of Brazilian center Erika De-Souza (197-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (182-87, college: Drexel, agency: LBM Management) who added 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. Perfumerias Avenida's coach Miguel Angel Ortega allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American swingman Shacobia Barbee (179-94, college: Georgia, agency: LBM Management) responded with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and forward Maria Perez-Araujo (182-97) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-1 record. Universitario de Ferrol at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Campus Promete (#4) in Logrono in the next round. Universitario de Ferrol will play on the road against Al-Qazeres in Caceres and hopes to get back on the winning track.
