Regular Season Round 24: Catz - Espoo Team 80-55

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Catz Lappeenranta (15-8) crushed at home 7th ranked Espoo Team (9-14) 80-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Catz Lappeenranta. Espoo Team was better in third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Catz Lappeenranta dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Espoo Team's 24. They outrebounded Espoo Team 39-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Samarie Walker (185-92, college: Kentucky, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Russian forward Elena Reshetko (184-86) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Catz Lappeenranta's coach Mika Haakana felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Morgan Bailey (189-92, college: BYU) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds and international swingman Lotta Aaltonen (180-85, college: Coker) added 15 points in the effort for Espoo Team. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Espoo Utd. Espoo Team at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will face Kouvottaret (#6) on the road in the next round. Espoo Team will play against the league's leader HyPo and hope to win that game.
