Regular Season Round 42: Tochigi Brex - Toyama Grouses 102-76

Very expected game when 6th ranked Toyama Grouses (9-32) were smashed on the road by first ranked Tochigi Brex (31-8) 102-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Toyama Grouses was better in third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Toyama Grouses' players. It was a good game for American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and forward Naoki Uto (188-91) added 14 points in the effort for Toyama Grouses. Five Tochigi Brex and four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tochigi Brex maintains first position with 31-8 record. Loser Toyama Grouses keep the sixth place with 32 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
