There was an upset in Reggio Calabria where higher ranked Eurobasket Roma (11-12) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Viola RC (7-16) 76-70 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Gilbert (198-93, college: Fairfield) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. American-Danish guard Alan Voskuil (191-86, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 16 points. American point guard Michael Deloach (185-86, college: Norfolk St.) produced 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Eugenio Fanti (184-91) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Viola RC and four Eurobasket Roma players scored in double figures. Viola RC moved-up to fourteenth place in A2. Newly promoted Eurobasket Roma dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Viola RC will face higher ranked FCM Ferentino (#13) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
