Regular Season Round 21: Sant Nicolau - Menorca 84-72

There was an upset when 3rd placed Menorca (12-6) lost to eleventh ranked Sant Nicolau (7-11) in Sabadell 72-84 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 50-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Sant Nicolau made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a good game for point guard Nil Angelats (185-93) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Point guard Lluis Curto (188-84) contributed with 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Angel Piedra (204-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and center Jan Orfila (207-84) added 19 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Menorca. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sant Nicolau moved-up to ninth place in Group C-A, which they share with Santfeliuenc and JAC Sants. Newly promoted Menorca keeps the third position with six games lost. Sant Nicolau will face Olivar (#13) in Zaragoza in the next round. Menorca will play at home against Arenys (#7) and hope to win that game.
