Regular Season Round 22: Valmontone - Barcellona 90-97

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Basket Barcellona (15-6) defeated on the road much higher ranked Valmontone (18-4) 97-90 on Sunday. Basket Barcellona made 31-of-35 free shots (88.6 percent) during the game. Valmontone was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Dominican guard Yancarlos-Jefferson Rodriguez (195-94) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Daniele Grilli (191-87) contributed with 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Luca Bisconti (206-82) replied with 23 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and naturalized Argentinian swingman Manuel Carrizo (198-80, agency: Players Group) added 16 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Valmontone. Five Basket Barcellona and four Valmontone players scored in double figures. Basket Barcellona moved-up to fourth place in B. Loser Valmontone still keeps top position with four games lost. Basket Barcellona will face Roma S.Azzurra (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valmontone will play against Palestrina (#3) in Roma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
