Regular Season Round 20: Campus Promete - Gernika 76-69

The most important game in the last round took place in Logrono between third ranked Gernika (13-7) and fifth ranked Campus Promete (11-9) on Sunday night. Gernika was defeated by Campus Promete in a tough game on the road 69-76. Gernika was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-15 charge of Campus Promete, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Robyn Parks (183-92, college: VCU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). The other American import Leslie Knight (184-86) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. International point guard Maria Asurmendi (168-86) replied with 27 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Maria Pina (187-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gernika. Campus Promete moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Araski. Gernika at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Campus Promete is looking forward to face league's leader Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Gernika will play at home against the league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
