Regular Season Round 20: PuHu Juniorit - JyWe 104-79

Date: February 26, 2017
Very predictable result in Vantaa where second ranked PuHu Juniorit (18-4) outscored 13th ranked JyWe (4-18) 104-79. JyWe was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 65-39 second half run of PuHu Juniorit. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. PuHu Juniorit players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by guard Pyry Rainamaa (194-90) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Sakari Salminen (200-87) supported him with 15 points. Four PuHu Juniorit players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by forward Lauri Salovaara (190-94) did not help to save the game for JyWe. Forward Ville Pyykkonen (203-77) added 18 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. PuHu Juniorit maintains second position in Division with 18-4 record behind leader TuNMKY. Newly promoted JyWe keeps the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. PuHu Juniorit's next round opponent will be Ura Basket (#3) in Kaarina, which may be the game of the day. JyWe will play on the road against PeU-Basket (#9) in Pernio and hope to win that game.
