There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Barcelona (11-9) was crushed at home by eighth ranked Real Celta Vigo (9-11) 78-56 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Real Celta Vigo made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Real Celta Vigo outrebounded Barcelona 36-18 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Barcelona was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Maria-Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Power forward Laura Alonso (179-93) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Real Celta Vigo players scored in double figures. Forward Ana Alonso (187-90) produced 13 points and guard Laura Lopez (171-85) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Barcelona's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Real Celta Vigo maintains eighth position in Group A with 9-11 record. Loser Barcelona keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Real Celta Vigo will face Ponce Valladolid (#14) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
