Regular Season Round 21: Barna - Mataro 76-80

Date: February 26, 2017
There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Mataro (6-12) won against 12th ranked Barna (6-12) in Barcelona 80-76 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 42-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Barna was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Santiago Serrataco (187-90) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Dominican power forward Jose Cabrera (206-84) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Marc Rabaseda (182-93) answered with 25 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and guard Bartu Martinez (187-91) added 21 points in the effort for Barna. Barna's coach Fabian Tellez tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mataro moved-up to twelfth place in Group C-A, which they share with Olivar and Barna. Barna lost their fifth game in a row. Mataro will face higher ranked JAC Sants (#9) in Barcelona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
