Very important is a road loss of third ranked Umana Venezia (12-8) against sixteenth ranked Vanoli Cremona (6-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Umana Venezia was defeated by Vanoli Cremona in a tough game in Cremona 82-91. The hosts were already 16 points ahead at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 26-17 last quarter charge of Umana Venezia cut the lead to 91-82 at the end of the game. Vanoli Cremona had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Umana Venezia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tashawn Thomas (203-93, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import swingman Paul Harris (193-86, college: Syracuse) who added 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Vanoli Cremona players scored in double figures. American-Georgian point guard Marquez Haynes (191-86, college: Texas Arlington) responded with 25 points and 5 assists and Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Umana Venezia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vanoli Cremona moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Openjobmetis V. Umana Venezia lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with eight games lost. Vanoli Cremona will play against higher ranked Enel Brindisi (#11) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Umana Venezia will play against VL Pesaro (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
