Regular Season Round 14: Villa Clara - Matanzas 62-88

Villa Clara (13-1) recorded its first loss in Santa Clara on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by fourth ranked Guerreros (8-5) 88-62. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Villa Clara. Guerreros dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Villa Clara's 40. They outrebounded Villa Clara 41-19 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) who scored 24 points. Lazro Sanchez chipped in 21 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Guerreros' coach Jemmott Allen felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and Osvaldo Perez added 14 points and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Guerreros moved-up to third place, which they share with Capitalinos. Villa Clara at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost.
