Regular Season Round 24: Armann - IA 77-96

Bottom-ranked Armann is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 22th consecutive match to eighth ranked IA (6-15) 96-77 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by IA. Armann managed to win second period 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Derek Shouse (188-93, college: Mo.-St.Louis) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Bjorn Brynjolfsson (192-82) supported him with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Five IA players scored in double figures. IA's coach Jon Thordarson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 20 points by guard Magnus Hjalmarsson (184) did not help to save the game for Armann. Forward Brynjar Fridriksson (200-96) added 11 points and 9 rebounds. IA maintains eighth position with 6-15 record. Loser Armann still closes the standings. IA will meet at home higher ranked Valur (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Armann will play against the league's leader Hottur (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
