Regular Season Round 29: El Jaysh - Al Arabi 86-68

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: El Jaysh (#1) and Al Arabi (#3). El Jaysh (17-0) crushed visiting Al Arabi (11-6) by 18 points 86-68. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Al Arabi. The game was mostly controlled by El Jaysh. Al Arabi was better in second period 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. El Jaysh dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Al Arabi's 34. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. El Jaysh's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Gueye Momar Talla (-97) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Al Arabi. Four El Jaysh and five Al Arabi players scored in double figures. El Jaysh have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-0 record. Al Arabi at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. El Jaysh's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
