Regular Season Round 42: Ehime OV - Iwate Big Bulls 68-67

Sixth-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (9-31) were very close to win a game against fourth ranked Orange Vikings (20-20) in Matsuyama on Sunday. Orange Vikings managed to secure only one-point victory 68-67. However their fans expected easier game. Iwate Big Bulls were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) who saved his team from a defeat with 12 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Nicchaeus Doaks (201-87, college: Chattanooga) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Iwate Big Bulls. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Orange Vikings have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 20-20 record. Iwate Big Bulls lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 31 games lost. Orange Vikings are looking forward to face higher ranked Tokyo Z (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Iwate Big Bulls will play against Kumamoto V. and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
