Regular Season Round 20: Deerlijk - Houthalen 73-55

There was no surprise in Deerlijk where 10th ranked Houthalen (4-15) was defeated by seventh ranked Tulikivi (8-11) 73-55 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Tulikivi. Houthalen managed to win fourth quarter 13-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Houthalen to just 6 points in third quarter. Tulikivi dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Houthalen's 18. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Lisa Foucart (170-92) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Nele Poffyn (173-91) who added 15 points and 4 steals during the contest. Tulikivi's coach Benny Mertens used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Jaleesa Maes (188-92) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and guard Fran Lemmens (165-96) scored 13 points. Tulikivi maintains seventh position with 8-11 record. Houthalen lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 15 games lost. Tulikivi will meet Laarne (#9) on the road in the next round. Houthalen will play against the league's leader Castors Braine and will have a slim chance for a victory.
