The most important game in the last round took place in Madrid between second ranked Real Madrid (15-5) and seventh ranked Gran Canaria (13-8) on Sunday night. Real Madrid was defeated by Gran Canaria at home 93-81. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria. Real Madrid managed to win second period 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gran Canaria shot 60.3 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Gran Canaria looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 13-8 record. Defending champion Real Madrid keeps the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Valencia. Gran Canaria are looking forward to face Blusens Monbus (#15) in Santoago de Comp in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Madrid will play on the road against the league's leader CB Canarias (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
