The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Penarol's (15-23) home victory over 9th ranked Boca Juniors (11-27) 89-71 on Monday. Penarol forced 21 Boca Juniors turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-89, college: W.Kentucky, agency: HMS) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Alejandro Diez (201-87) who added 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Fernando Funes (193-83) scored 18 points. Four Boca Juniors players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Penarol maintains eighth position with 15-23 record. Boca Juniors lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 27 games lost. Penarol will face higher ranked Quilmes MP (#7) in Mar del Plata in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Boca Juniors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena Ferrocarril.
