Regular Season Round 20: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Ironi Nahariya 64-67

Date: February 27, 2017
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Bnei Hasharon (12-8) against ninth ranked Ironi Nahariya (9-11) on Monday night. Host Bnei Hasharon was edged by Ironi Nahariya in a tough game in Hod Hasharon 64-67. Bnei Hasharon was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 23-16 charge of Ironi Nahariya, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 21 Bnei Hasharon turnovers. The winners were led by American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Derwin Kitchen (194-86, college: Florida St.) supported him with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. Ironi Nahariya's coach Eric Elfasi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds by international forward Karam Mashour (198-91, college: Morehead St., agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Bnei Hasharon. American forward Jeff Adrien (201-86, college: Connecticut) added 13 points for the hosts. Ironi Nahariya moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Maccabi Haifa. Bnei Hasharon at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Ironi Nahariya's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G (#12) in Kiryat Gat. Bnei Hasharon will play on the road against the league's second-placed Hapoel Holon (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
