Regular Season Round 27: Union SF - San Isidro 74-67

Date: February 27, 2017
The game between closely ranked teams ended with first ranked Union SF's (22-6) home victory over second-best San Isidro (19-12) in Santa Fe 74-67 on Monday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But San Isidro won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Union SF won last quarter 20-14. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 San Isidro turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Bruno Barovero (194-90) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Power forward Miguel Isola (197-83) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Center Santiago Gonzalez (203-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Italian Juan Kelly (190-88) added 8 points and 6 assists in the effort for San Isidro. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Union SF maintains first place with 22-6 record. Loser San Isidro keeps the second position with 12 games lost. Union SF will face Sportivo (#6) in Las Parejas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. San Isidro will play at home against Salta Basket (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
