Regular Season Round 6: Hyundai-TSU - SEU Tbilisi 85-60

Date: March 1, 2017
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Hyundai-TSU (#2) and SEU Tbilisi (#6). Hyundai-TSU (4-2) smashed visiting SEU Tbilisi (0-6) by 25 points 85-60. SEU Tbilisi was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Hyundai-TSU forced 19 SEU Tbilisi turnovers. South African center Christopher Gabriel (210-88, college: San Diego) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Sandro Sanadze (188-95) chipped in 16 points during the contest. Gabriel is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Hyundai-TSU players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Jamal Wilson (195-90, college: Rhode Island) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Richard Matiashvili (207-89, agency: Aspire Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hyundai-TSU maintains second position with 4-2 record behind leader DELTA. SEU Tbilisi at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Hyundai-TSU will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SEU Tbilisi will play against BC Titebi (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
