Regular Season Round 20: TTU - Valga 102-77
Date: March 1, 2017
There was no surprise in Tallinn where 7th ranked Valga (6-15) was crushed by fifth ranked TTU (12-8) 102-77 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by TTU. Valga was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. TTU forced 20 Valga turnovers. Valga was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international Toomas Raadik (202-90, agency: Promotex) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Valmo Kriisa (192-74) produced 13 points and 5 assists and naturalized American forward Renato Lindments (202-84, college: Westfield St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five TTU and four Valga players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TTU moved-up to third place, which they share with Rapla. Loser Valga keeps the seventh position with 15 games lost. TTU will face BC Rakvere (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Valga will play against BC Rakvere and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
